Today’s Omaha World-Herald reports:
Nebraska will face a growing shortage of medical professionals within the next 10 years, primarily because of increasing retirements, according to a report released Tuesday by the University of Nebraska Medical Center.
Fortunately, Midland Lutheran has a strong nursing and pre-health science program.
As usual, where there’s a need, there will be Midland Lutheran College graduates poised to pitch in.

An article in today’s Omaha World-Herald warns that not all computer anti-virus protection is the same.
In fact, sometimes it’s the virus.
Take a look at some of the threats that come with “free” anti-virus software, song downloads, and (oddly enough) Jessica Biel.

From today’s Fremont Tribune:
The first few weeks of the Midland Lutheran College volleyball schedule will be sort of a “get to know” period between the program and fans.
The team is under new leadership after former Iowa Western Community College coach Terry Gamble was hired at the end of July and 11 freshmen are listed on the team’s 20-player roster.
I got the chance to watch the team work through some drills last week. They are looking sharp and seem to be responding well to Gamble.
The squad takes to the court to open the season in Davenport, Iowa, at the St. Ambrose tournament Friday and Saturday this week.

Maybe it’s because I missed mine this morning, but this article on using breakfast to power the rest of your day seemed like good info to pass along.
Breakfast comes at a terrible time of day to make a rational decision. We’re rushed. We’re groggy. And we’re famished.
We know it’s good for us — 90 percent of Americans think it’s the most important meal — yet fewer than half of consumers actually eat it on a regular basis, according to the International Food Information Council.
Unlike other meals, however, breakfast is unique in that it can set the tone for your entire day — for better or worse.
As a collegian, I rarely ate breakfast and my morning classes suffered. No joke, my a.m. GPA was noticeably lower than my post-lunch GPA.
