Art Show of Note Opens This Weekend

Check out the Deryl Skelton Reality Tour, this weekend down at the Gallery 92 West here in Fremont.

If you are a fan of comic book art, as I am, then this show is right up your alley. Skelton has worked with Marvel and DC comics on a variety of titles, but he’s probably best known for Star Trek: The Next Generation.

The show runs from August 2 to August 31st.

As an aside, Skelton is the father of the recently hitched Laura (Skelton) Peters, a 2008 Midland graduate and excellent artist in her own right.

Not a fan of comic books? Check out the show anyway, I think you’ll be surprised by the amount of detail, thought and symbolism involved.

Looking for Something to Do Tonight?

It’s Friday night and you have no plans?
Relax, there’s some good tunes over at John C. Fremont Park this evening. I’ll let the Fremont Tribune tell the tale.

Bare will be the featured band at this Friday’s free concert in the park.

Events will take place from 5:30-9 p.m. at John C. Fremont City Park. The band will play two, one-hour sets beginning at 6 p.m.

Children’s activities will be provided. A downtown merchant and food vendor will be spotlighted at the park. Food, water, lemonade and pop will be available for purchase.

Seating is not provided, so those attending are asked to bring their own chairs or blankets.

As the immortal Bluto Blutarsky once advised Flounder “Don’t cost nothin’.”
